What is the purpose of the Health Foundation of East Texas?

The Health Foundation of East Texas invests in solutions, initiatives, and partnerships that significantly improve community health and well-being.

Are there geographic boundaries for the Foundation's work?

Our work focuses on impacting Smith County and surrounding communities.

Are there specific areas of interest for the Foundation?

The Foundation recognizes that many interconnected issues impact the health and well-being of our residents and communities. To best prioritize our resources to achieve meaningful impact, we have chosen to focus our work in two primary program areas:  youth mental health and access to care.

Are there any disqualifying criteria?

The Foundation will not consider applications from individuals, strictly religious/sectarian causes, or religious institutions. It will not provide general operating funds, nor will it fund budget deficits, debt retirement, lobbying, or election influence. Additionally, your organization cannot be considered a “private foundation” as described by Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.

How does an organization begin the process with the Foundation?

Start a conversation with us at any time because we do not have grant cycles or deadlines. If you are a grant-seeker, you must be an organization designated by the Internal Revenue Services as a 501(c)(3) or 170(c).

We also welcome conversations from strategic partners looking to support an aligned vision of helping people in our communities live long, healthy lives.
